Company description::
Cape Town, South Africa - For years magicians have baffled audiences with unbelievable illusions and breathtaking sleight of hand. The secrets of their trade, however, have long been shrouded in mystery and learning to become a magician has often proved to be an impossible feat. That’s all about to change as people from all around the world can now learn to become a magician at a real life Hogwarts known as the College of Magic.

Supported by Magicians of the Century, Siegfried and Roy, the College of Magic provides training to thousands of aspiring magicians across the globe and is unique in that it is the only teaching organization of its kind in the world. Students get to explore the mysterious world of illusion in a unique six year Diploma Course which covers everything from the grand magic of the stage to the dexterity of a simple coin vanish.

“Anyone can learn magic,” says College of Magic Director, David Gore. “Magic is like music - it crosses all boundaries and communicates with the child at heart.” And to prove it, one just needs to have a look at the students. Ranging in age from eight to 88 they come from all walks of life – scholars, doctors, teachers and professionals – and from nearly all around the world, too. Those students who can’t join the College of Magic’s regular classes at their Magical Arts Centre in Cape Town, South Africa become part of a unique virtual Internet classroom of other magic students which combines online training with real-world practice.

“The College of Magic’s Distance Learning Program has members from as far afield as Brazil and Korea,” says Gore. “We have people learning magic in nearly every major country – it truly is a universal language !” So next time you sit in awe as the magician seemingly does the impossible, spare a thought for the aspiring conjurors at the College of Magic who are working hard to help you relive the magic of wonder and illusion.
